In 1993, at the age of 16 years old, Ahmed Hussen escaped his war-torn country, Somalia, and immigrated to Canada. In January of 2017, Hussen was sworn in as Canadian Minister of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship, and he officially joined the Liberal cabinet of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
